Mailboxes

Plastic Mailboxes

When we think of mailboxes we automatically think of strong, sturdy and secure. However, there is another aspect of mailboxes that we don't often think of and that is the rural mailbox that is a hazard to motorist. Usually these are cemented into the ground very firmly and the mailbox itself is so heavy and strong that it can become a very deadly weapon if a motorist happens to have an accident with one of them. This is where plastic mailboxes come into the picture. They are more flexible and tend not to do so much damage as the ones that are made of steel or other heavy materials.

If you think about it, rural mailboxes are the perfect height when connected with a vehicle to have the box itself go flying through a windshield and do some terrible damage not only to the car but sometimes the driver. This is not to mention the impact of the post, as most people tend to put the kind of post there that will withstand anything. This makes for a very dangerous situation when driving in the country.

When you use plastic, you will find it is a lot more forgiving than some of the other materials that are used on today's market. They are built just as strong but in a different way than metal. When it is impacted it won't cause the type of damage that you will get from other but is still built to give you the protection you need from vandalism. It also stands up wonderfully well to anything the weather has to dish out and as they say rain, sleet or snow won't harm the mailbox and the delivery of your mail.

So if you have to replace your mailbox give some thought to plastic. It may save someone's life by having it there and it will also give you as much security in holding your mail.
